Hotel reservations are at 50% for January

Foz Hotel Union states that rate shows a recovery in tourism.

The number of bookings for hotels in Foz do Iguaçu for January 2017 has surprised the Hotel, Restaurant and Bar Union - Sindhotéis. According to the entity's president, Mr. Carlos Silva, by September, a 50% occupancy rate was already achieved, an exceptional number, considering there were almost four months to go before the start of the new year. Normally, this level of occupation is only reached in November or December.

"We are expecting a great 2017", stated Silva. In his opinion, the demand in Foz do Iguaçu, so early on, shows that the Brazilian tourism market is recovering. The number of foreign tourists next year is also expected to rise, as the high dollar and euro make the Brazilian market all the more attractive.

Furthermore, the Travel Mart Latin America business fair (ending this Saturday, 17), which brought travel operators from 46 countries to Foz do Iguaçu, will also contribute to the sale of Destination Iguaçu in the international market. The business fair "showcased us around the world", said Silva.

The president of Sindhoteís also stated that Foz do Iguaçu is set to increase the number of hotel beds. By the end of 2017, we will have an extra thousand beds, among new hotels and expansions. Right now, the city has approximately 27,500 beds, when counting all the establishments offering accommodation.

Average occupation for hotels in Foz do Iguaçu, in the first half of the year, reached around 55%. For the second half of the year, hotel owners expect the figure to rise to 60%. And, in 2017, with the recovery of the domestic market and the arrival of foreign tourist, the forecast number is 70%, according to Carlos Silva.
