Falls Half Marathon 11.12.2012

Falls Half Marathon

This Tuesday (10) morning saw the official launch of the 6th edition of the Falls Half Marathon, at Hotel Mabu, in Foz do Iguaçu. For the first time, the race will be run entirely within Iguassu National Park.

According to the race coordinator, Adélio Demeterko, the change in route caters to logistic and safety criteria. “Traffic was a real problem, with the start of the marathon on Avenida das Cataratas, and this called for special attention. Inside the park, runners’ safety is guaranteed”, he said.

The half marathon kicks off at 8 am, next to the Environmental Police headquarters. Athletes will pass the Iguassu Falls, up to Porto Canoas, and then return in the direction of the park entrance. The finishing line will be set up 200 meters from the old entrance to the unit. The race is valid for the Brazilian Golden League ranking.

Support – The launch ceremony will enjoy the participation of organizing and support entities associated to the Half Marathon. “The race is among the country’s best thanks to the effort of partners in the organization”, stated the race’s technical director, Tadeu Natálio.  At this year’s edition, the trophy will pay tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Paraná Fire Brigade.

Registration – Registration at a promotional rate can be completed on the competition’s site, for BRL 70.00, up to April 20. From April 21 to June 8, the rate is BRL 90.00. From June 9 to July 2, the rate is BRL 120.00.
